Abstract

The following article describes the author’s experience during the collaboration (March-July 2023) with the music director of Le Théâtre du Soleil, Jean-Jacques Lemêtre. His activities at the Faculty of Theatre and Film in Cluj, a concert-conference, the workshops with the students and the construction of an “audience course” prepared for the International Theater Festival in Sibiu are presented. Excerpts from students’ opinions about working with J.-J. Lemêtre are also  provided.

FILIP ODANGIU (born 1976, Timișoara) is one of the promoters of a new approach in the propaedeutics of the actor’s art, based on exploring the mechanisms of imagination and metacognition. He made his undergraduate studies at Timisoara (painting) and Cluj (acting), where he obtained a PhD in Theatre in 2013, with a thesis dedicated to the formation of the actor. He achieved his Master in Philosophy of Culture and Performing Arts at the Faculty of Theatre and Television, Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj.  Author of two reference books in the field of theater practice, The intelligent body. Metacognitive strategies in actor training and Praxis. The strategic exercise, both published by Casa Cărții de Ştiință Publishing House, Cluj, in 2013. Filip Odangiu is also a collaborating actor of the Cluj National Theater and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Theater and Film at Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj, where he has been teaching acting, improvisation, non-verbal theater, mask theater since 2003. His work, besides the didactic aspects, includes several directions: theater directing, stage design, fine arts, journalism. In 2020, together with former students, he founded the MAIDAN Creative Center, a private theater in Cluj-Napoca.
